Abductor – a muscle that moves a limb away from the midline.
Adductor – moves a limb towards the midline.
‘Anatomical position’ – feet are together and the palms of the hands face anteriorly.
Circumduction of a limb – moving it in circular movements.
Extonsor – a muscle that increases the angle at a joint.
Flexor – decreases the angle at a joint.
Pronator – a muscle that turns a limb to face downwards.
Supinator – turns a limb to face upwards,
Face:
Protrusion – Pushing the jaw forwards
Retrusion – Lifting the shoulders towards the ears.
Feet:
(inferior: something closer to the feet)
Dorsiflexion – Flexing the foot at the ankle.
Lateral Rotation – Turning the foot outwardly from the body at the hip.
Plantarflexion – extending the foot at the ankle
Hands:
Medial rotation – turning the palm to face the body in an anatomical possession.
Shoulders:
Depression – pushing down the shoulders
Elevation – Lifting the shoulders towards the ears.
